The young shoot of the olive. Aeschines in the Defence [uses the word]. "Of a suppliant" is the name for a branch of olive, wound into a wreath.
Ἱκετηρία· ὁ θαλλὸς τῆς ἐλαίας. ὁ δὲ Αἰσχίνης ἐν τῇ Ἀπολογίᾳ. ἱκετηρία καλεῖται ἐλαίας κλάδος, στέμματι ἐστεμμένος.
