Translation

[Meaning] ambivalent.¹
"They did not think they should submit to a dubious struggle, with those who could clearly win."²
Also [sc. attested is the phrase] a)mfidocou/mena bibli/a ["debated books"], that is, ones in dispute.³

Ἀμφίδοξον· ἀμφίβολον. οἱ δὲ οὐκ ᾤοντο δεῖν ἐς ἀμφίδοξον ἀγῶνα συγκαταβαίνειν, δυναμένοις προδήλως νικᾶν. καὶ Ἀμφιδοξούμενα βιβλία, τουτέστιν ἀμφιβαλλόμενα.
