Translation

There being three [sc. Long] walls in Attica, the Northern and the Southern and the Phaleric, the Southern used to be described as "through the middle" of those on either side. Plato in Gorgias mentions it.¹

Διὰ μέσου τείχους· τριῶν ὄντων τειχῶν ἐν τῇ Ἀττικῇ, ἀπὸ τοῦ Βορείου καὶ τοῦ Νοτίου καὶ τοῦ Φαληρικοῦ, διὰ μέσου τῶν παρ' ἑκάτερα τὸ Νότιον ἐλέγετο· οὗ μνημονεύει καὶ Πλάτων ἐν Γοργία.
