Ἐπιθέτους ἑορτάς

Isocrates in Areopagitikos [sc. uses this phrase].¹ It is the festivals that are not traditional, but voted for by other means, that they used to call "extra". And other things too were described as "extra" amongst them, [such as] the non-traditional jurisdiction of the Areopagos council.² Lysias speaks of "extra letters", those given to certain people to carry.³ And "to add letters" means to hand them over. And "he added" means he handed over.⁴
