Translation

[Meaning] letter-carriers.¹ "Narses sent couriers to John and advised him that they should not join battle with the Persians until their forces were combined."²

Ἐπιστολεῖς· γραμματοφόρους. ὁ δὲ Ναρσῆς ἐπιστολεῖς πρὸς Ἰωάννην πέμπει καὶ παρεγγυᾷ αὐτῷ, ὡς οὐ δεῖ Πέρσαις συμπλέκεσθαι, πρὶν αἱ δυνάμεις συναφθεῖεν.
