despite being a slave you have [long] hair
[sc. A saying] in reference to those who do something unexpected; inasmuch as [it is characteristic] of free men to have long hair. Also found is doulo/teros ["more slavish, more severely enslaved"] in the comparative.
Δοῦλος ὢν κόμην ἔχεις· ἐπὶ τῶν παραλόγως τι πραττόντων· παρόσον ἐλευθέρων τὸ κομᾶν. λέγεται καὶ Δουλότερος κατὰ σύγκρισιν.
