Meaning mightily. "And once indeed engaged, he was fighting with all [his] might; and no less did he persevere in the war."
Κατὰ τὸ καρτερόν· ἀντὶ τοῦ καρτερῶς. καὶ δὴ συμμίξας ἐμάχετο κατὰ τὸ καρτερόν· οὐχ ἧττόν τε ἔσχε τῷ πολέμῳ.
