Translation

[Meaning] to investigate, as if to come into conflict. Herodotus [sc. uses the word].¹
Also [sc. attested is the related participle] [matters] being cross-examined, meaning being investigated. Or meaning the same things frequently said or done afresh.²

Ἀναποδίζειν· τὸ ἐξετάζειν, ὡσανεὶ συγκρούειν. Ἡρόδοτος. καὶ Ἀναποδιζόμενα, ἀντὶ τοῦ ἐξεταζόμενα. ἢ ἀντὶ τοῦ ἄνωθεν πολλάκις τὰ αὐτὰ λεγόμενα ἢ πραττόμενα.
