Translation

The [verb that means] to live cheaply. But to live [means living] with luxury and extravagance.¹
"To acquire so many things contentedly as to eke out a living from them."² Meaning [to live] moderately.

Ἀποζῆν· τὸ εὐτελῶς ζῆν. ζῆν δὲ τὸ μετὰ τρυφῆς καὶ πολυτελείας. τοσαῦτα ἀγαπῶν κεκτῆσθαι, ὅσα ἀποζῆν ἀπ' αὐτῶν. ἀντὶ τοῦ μέτρια.
