Translation

[Meaning] to be shunned, worthy of being hated; or averting evil things.¹
"For thus they seemed to be apotropaic and evil-deterring."²

Ἀποτρόπαιοι· φευκτοὶ, μισεῖσθαι ἄξιοι· ἢ ἀποτρέποντες τὰ κακά. οὕτω γὰρ ἐδόκουν ἀποτρόπαιοί τινες εἶναι καὶ ἀλεξίκακοι.
