Translation

[Meaning] suffering, disease, listlessness.¹
Also [sc. attested is the related participle] a)sqenou=ntas ["them who are weak"], meaning them who are in need; for idiosyncratically they describe fortune as a disease. Aristophanes [writes]: "the poor people who are weak."²

Ἀσθένεια· ταλαιπωρία, νόσος, ἀδυναμία. καὶ Ἀσθενοῦντας, ἀντὶ τοῦ ἐν ἐνδείᾳ ὄντας· τὴν γὰρ τύχην ἰδίως νόσον φασίν. Ἀριστοφάνης· τοὺς πένητας ἀσθενοῦντας.
