Notes (2)
- cf. alpha 972, alpha 973, alpha 974.↩
- 1Likewise the first half of Photius, Lexicon alpha833 Theodoridis, and elsewhere. The headword is neuter singular of this adjective (LSJ entry at web address 1), perhaps extracted from the quotation given here but more probably not, since the other lexica do not have it. There are numerous alternatives, from Euripides and Aristophanes onwards. ↩
- 2Attributed by Mai to Cassius Dio; in any event, close in content to Eutropius, Breviarium 3.10.1. The Fabius in question is Quintus Fabius Maximus Verrucosus "Cunctator," the "Delayer," of the Second Punic War, dictator 217 BCE; OCD(4) p.564.
