Translation
In Thucydides [this expression is used] meaning close. For it is [an instance of] apocope, because it was [sc. in full] e)n xrwti/ .1 It is said from shaving which is done close to the skin.

Ἐν χρῷ παραπλέων· παρὰ Θουκυδίδῃ ἀντὶ τοῦ πλησίον. ἔστι γὰρ ἡ ἀποκοπή, ἦν γὰρ ἐν χρωτί. εἴρηται δὲ ἀπὸ τῆς κουρᾶς τῆς ἄχρι τοῦ χρωτὸς γινομένης.
