   The headword is present participle, masculine nominative singular, of the verb e)piqu/nw, a rare variant of e)peuqu/nw. Outside lexicography it is attested only at Oppian, Cynegetica 1.281, but the lexicographers' gloss is not particularly appropriate to that context.
