Translation

[Meaning] to beg and supplicate in a servile manner.¹
"Abgar met Trajan as he approached and obtained pardon; for the child was a splendid supplication for him."²

Ἱκέτευμα· τὸ δουλοπρεπῶς παρακαλεῖν καὶ ἱκετεύειν. ὁ δὲ Αὔγαρος ἀπήντησε Τραϊανῷ προσιόντι καὶ συγγνώμης ἔτυχεν· ὁ γὰρ παῖς λαμπρόν οἱ ἱκέτευμα ἦν.
