Translation

That which in the early wars¹ appears to have been the best of the [formations employed] formerly. The formations were divided into pentekostyes, enomotiai, and moirai;² and the minimum number of the enomotia was 5 and 20 men.³

Λακωνικὴ τάξις· ἡ κατὰ τοὺς ἄνω πολέμους ἀρίστη τῶν πρόσθεν γενέσθαι δοκεῖ. εἰς πεντηκοστύας καὶ ἐνωμοτίας καὶ μοίρας διῃροῦντο αἱ τάξεις· καὶ ἦν ὁ ἐλάχιστος ἀριθμὸς τῆς ἐνωμοτίας ἀνδρῶν εʹ καὶ κʹ.
