Bronze-House, of the Bronze House; Chalkioikos
[An epithet of] Athena in Sparta. [The term arose] either because she has a bronze house; or because it is a solid one; or because exiles from Chalkis [Myth, Place] in Euboia founded it.
Χαλκίοικος· ἡ Ἀθηνᾶ ἐν Σπάρτῃ. ἢ ὅτι χαλκοῦν εἶχεν οἶκον· ἢ διὰ τὸ στερεὸν εἶναι· ἢ διὰ τὸ τοὺς Χαλκιδεῖς τοὺς ἐξ Εὐβοίας φυγάδας αὐτὸν κτίσαι.
