[Meaning] the [construction] which some used to build round a camp, for safety. So Demosthenes [sc. uses the word]. And Menander [says] "for many left the palisade and were sacking the villages".
Χαράκωμα· ὃ περιεβάλλοντό τινες στρατοπέδῳ ἐπὶ σωτηρίᾳ. ὡς Δημοσθένης. καὶ Μένανδρος· πολλοὶ γὰρ ἐκλελοιπότες τὸν χάρακα τὰς κώμας ἐπόρθουν.
