Translation

[Meaning he] having renewed and awakened. Or having been remembered, having come to mind.¹
"Marcus, having recollected the lowness of the wall, determined to try his luck."²

Ἀνανεωσάμενος· ἀνακαινίσας καὶ ἀνεγείρας. ἢ ἀναμνησθεὶς, εἰς ἔννοιαν ἐλθών. ὁ δὲ Μάρκος προσανανεωσάμενος τὴν τοῦ τείχους ταπεινότητα ἐπεβάλετο καταπειράζειν τῆς ἐλπίδος.

For this verb cf. generally alpha 1973 and alpha 2271. Its aorist middle participle, here, is evidently extracted from somewhere; there are numerous possibilities, esp. in historians from Thucydides onwards.
1It is unclear why the second part of this glossing treats the headword as passive rather than middle. ↩
2Polybius 8.37.2 (on M. Claudius Marcellus at the siege of Syracuse, 212 BCE: web address 1), with a compound version of the headword verb. Again at pi 2593. This seems to be a case where the Suda has preserved a better text of Polybius than the one conventionally transmitted: see F.W. Walbank, A Historical Commentary on Polybius, ii (Oxford 1967) 113.
