Translation
[Meaning] I wiped off. For they say a)poya=n for e)kma/ssein ["to wipe off"].
Also [sc. attested is]a)pe/yhsan ["they wiped away"], [meaning] they shook off.
"If [our forefathers] fell on the shoulder in some battle somewhere, they would wipe this away."1
This is called a sham fall, whenever those who fall stand up again and shake off the dust, lest they have the dishonour of the fall.
And in Wealth: "we no longer wipe off with stones."2
Also [sc. attested is]a)peyh/sas ["he having boiled down"], [meaning he] having made boiled. Or meaning having begun anew. Aristophanes [writes]: "I have boiled down Demos for you and made him beautiful instead of ugly."3 Meaning I have recreated [him]. Just as Medea is said to have done, boiling down the nursemaids of Dionysos to make them young again.4
