Translation

[Meaning one who is] refusing, declining.
"He said that he would not touch food, unless he might investigate the barbarian slaughter. Renouncing the feasting he hastened to the sight."¹

Ἀπειπών· ἀπαρνησάμενος, παραιτησάμενος. οὐκ ἂν ἔφησεν ἅψασθαι τροφῆς, εἰ μὴ τὸν φόνον τὸν βαρβαρικὸν ἱστορήσειεν. ὁ δὲ ἀπειπὼν τὴν εὐωχίαν συνηπείγετο πρὸς τὴν θέαν.
