Translation

[Meaning he/she/it] had a share of.
"Neither Kleon nor Brasidas, the cause of the misfortune, enjoyed reproach, as they would have if the author were angered." Markellinos says [this] about Thucydides.¹

Ἀπήλαυσε· μετέσχεν. οὔτε Κλέων οὔτε Βρασίδας, ὁ τῆς συμφορᾶς αἴτιος, ἀπήλαυσε λοιδορίας, ὡς ἂν τοῦ συγγραφέως ὀργιζομένου. Μαρκελλῖνός φησι περὶ Θουκυδίδου.

1Marcellinus, Life of Thucydides 26; see again under alpha 3377. The "misfortune" was the loss (from an Athenian perspective) of Amphipolis, which General Thucydides had been sent north to save, and his consequent trial and exile: see Thuc. 4.102ff.
