Betacode
*brou=xos. h( ka/mph.
Notes
- Longer entries along the same lines in ps.-Zonaras s.v. and earlier in Hesychius s.v. -- the latter noting that the headword can also be spelled
brou=kos in Ionic andbrou=ka in Cypriot. (An earlier entry, besides, has registered Cretanbreu=kos .) But the Suda'sbrou=xos is the form standard in the Septuagint. Adler classifies the entry as one deriving from glosses on the Psalms, in this instance Psalm 104.34, and see also e.g. Joel 1.4.
The gloss is lacking in mss F and V (so Adler). Etymologicum Magnum and Etymologicum Symeonis gloss withei)=dos a)kri/dos "a kind of locust." Unglossedka/mph appears at kappa 291.
