Translation

A statue of [the goddess] Hekate.¹ And [there is] a saying, 'Theagenes' Hekateion', of which he used to learn when he went away anywhere.² [It was he] who used to be called Smoke. There were 2 other Theagenes-es: the one who wrote about Homer and the one satirized for being a softy.³

Ἑκάτειον· Ἑκάτης ἄγαλμα. καὶ παροιμία, Θεαγένους Ἑκάτειον· οὗ ἐπυνθάνετο πανταχοῦ ἀπιών. ὃς Καπνὸς ἐκαλεῖτο. ἦσαν δὲ Θεα- γένεις ἄλλοι βʹ· ὁ περὶ Ὁμήρου γράψας καὶ ὁ ἐπὶ μαλακίᾳ διαβεβλημένος.
