Translation

Solon,¹ when he wrote laws for the Athenians, divided their whole population into 5 classes,² according to the value of their properties. And the name of the first class was Five-hundred-medimnos-men, of the second Cavalrymen, of the third Yoke-team-men,³ of the fourth Laborers, and of the 5th Cavalry.⁴
