Translation
Vices are analogous to virtues. Some [vices] are primary, others - such as imprudence, cowardice, injustice, intemperance, incontinence, slowness of understanding, ill-advisedness - are subordinated to these.1 Vices are [part] of ignorance.2 [This embraces] both things that share in the vices, the actions which are performed in accordance with vice, and the base people [themselves]; and the byproducts [are] despair, folly and the like.
