Translation

[Meaning] take care of.¹ "'Put in order that Sparta↗ which has been allotted to you.'² And for my part I think I will be content with what is fated and will myself put what is mine in order, judging that this contest and test is set before my life, if I do not abandon philosophy even when she is suffering misfortune."³

Κόσμει· ἐπιμελοῦ. κόσμει ἣν ἔλαχες Σπάρταν. κἀγώ μοι δοκῶ τὴν εἱμαρμένην ἀγαπήσειν τε καὶ κοσμήσειν τὴν αὐτὸς ἐμαυτοῦ, ἡγούμενος ἀγώνισμα τοῦτο προκεῖσθαι τῷ βίῳ καὶ βάσανον, εἰ μηδὲ ἀτυχοῦσαν ἀπολιμπάνω φιλοσοφίαν.
