Translation
[mei/s means] month in Aeolic.
Greek original · Adler’s text
Μείς· μὴν Αἰολικῶς.
Betacode
*mei/s: mh\n *ai)olikw=s.
Notes
- From the scholia to Homer, Iliad 19.117, where the headword occurs.
Two nominatives,mei/s andmh/n (mu 946), occur: see LSJ s.v. (web address 1). The former does not appear to be specifically Aeolic. This noun represents the Indo-European word for "moon," generally replaced byselh/nh in Greek (see sigma 205) as by luna in Latin.
