Translation

[Meaning] warriors.1 "There are good brawlers also/even amongst the Bakchaioi".2

Greek original · Adler’s text

Πλῆκται· πολεμικοί. εἰσὶ δὲ πλῆκται ἀγαθοὶ καὶ παρὰ Βακχαίοις.

Betacode
*plh=ktai: polemikoi/. ei)si\ de\ plh=ktai a)gaqoi\ kai\ para\ *bakxai/ois.

Notes (2)

  1. The headword is nominative plural, presumably extracted from the quotation given.
  2. 1cf. generally (e.g.) Plutarch, Philopoemen 9.3: plh=ktai kai\ ma/ximoi. ↩
  3. 2Quotation (transmitted, in Adler's view, via the Excerpta Constantini Porphyrogeniti) unidentifiable. NB: the proper name has been transmitted as Bakchaioi (unparalleled) but Adler notes Bernhardy's suggestion that it be emended to Bakkaioi (beta 45). ↩
