1. The headword phrase in this nominative singular form occurs only here and in the scholia to Euripides, Rhesus 703, where it is used to gloss the tragedian's phrase to\n u(/paton qew=n ("supreme of gods"). However, it is not self-evidently a quoted phrase but may rather be simply generic. See e.g. Herodotus 1.172.2 (dative plural).
