Notes (3)
- [1] For this verb cf. generally alpha 3059. Its present participle (masculine nominative singular), here, must be quoted from somewhere; same or similar glossing in other lexica.↩
- 2Quotation unidentifiable--but Alcibiades is evidently alpha 1280. Favuzzi (2018) 287-291 argues, convincingly, that the verb's subject is Lysandros (lambda 852), and the recipient of the letter the satrap Pharnabazos; cf. the accounts in Nepos and Plutarch. ↩
- 3The source of the Suda's
a)poskeuazo/menoi here is uncertain, but perhaps Josephus, Jewish War 1.196. ↩- 4Theophylact Simocatta, Histories 3.7.4; on a pair of Persian army scouts, disguised as Romans, after being captured by Roman troops in 589; cf. de Boor (123), Whitby (82), alpha 3257, and alpha 4187.
