Translation

Arbele [is] a small Sicilian city.1 Those who live there seemed to be easily deceived. And [hence] a proverb: "What will you not become when you go to Arbelai?"2

Greek original · Adler’s text

Notes (2)

  1. Adler's 'Arbalai', rather than Arbelai, as the headword is a slip, corrected in her addenda and corrigenda.
  2. 1Confirmed by Stephanus of Byzantium s.v., citing the Sicilian historian Philistus (FGrH 556 F29). ↩
  3. 2Cf. tau 646 and tau 674. ↩
