Son of Skydimos;1 a sycophant. This man's father was a public debtor and died in prison. And Aristogeiton himself, as the inheritor of the debt, was subsequently seized. His mother was sold [as a slave] by the state. In prison he stole a register and was found out by the jailers, and he bit off the nose of the man whose register he had stolen. And2 after he had run away and Zobia had given him shelter, asking for a good turn when he was strong [again], he hauled her off to the auction-house of the metic-tax; and his own sister he did sell for export. He indicted Hyperides for making an illegal proposal in his decree after Chaironeia and he did not convict [him].3
