Translation

[Meaning they] pondering deeply.¹
Also [sc. attested is] bu/sswma ["flax-net"].
"Trapping the roundel of tunnies with flax-nets of well spun linen in the grayish approaches of the sea."²

Βυσσοδομοῦντες· ἐκ βάθους σκεπτόμενοι. καὶ Βύσσωμα. θύννων εὐκλώστοιο λίνου βυσσώμασι ῥόμβον φράξαντες γλαυκαῖς ἐν παρόδοις πελάγευς.

[1] Same glossing in Photius and other lexica; the headword participle must be quoted from somewhere. On this verb -- usually (from Homer, Odyssey, onwards) bussodomeu/w, of which the lexicographers' bussodome/w is a variant -- see generally LSJ s.v. Despite the remainder of the present entry, it is related not to bu/ssos "flax/linen" (cf. beta 596) but to busso/s "depth" (cf. beta 598).
