Translation
[Meaning] to strike.
Greek original · Adler’s text
Χρείειν· τύπτειν.
Betacode
*xrei/ein: tu/ptein.
Notes
- The transmitted headword,
xrei/ein , is puzzling. It would seem to be the present active infinitive ofxrei/w , but the gloss fits the meaning ofxreio/w , the infinitive of which would bexreiou=n . Valckenaer and Ruhnken proposed that the headword readxri/ein , fromxri/w ("anoint [cf. chi 470]; prick, wound").
