Δαίω

[dai/w is] the [verb which means the same as] manqa/nw.¹ [Future] dai/sw,² [whence] dai/+skw,³ and by dropping the iota da/skw⁴ (since the words in common use which end in -kw do not tend to have a diphthong); with reduplication dida/skw ["I teach"],⁵ and from this [the noun] dida/skalos ["teacher"].⁶
