When the defendant [sc. in a trial in classical Athens] is acquitted of the charge, either by acquiescence of the prosecutor or by determination of a circumstance,¹ and he is no longer being charged by anyone, [this] is expressed as cancellation of a lawsuit.

Διαγραφὴ δίκης· ὅταν ἀπαλλαγῇ τοῦ ἐγκλήματος ὁ φεύγων, ἢ κατὰ συγχώρησιν τοῦ διώκοντος ἢ κατὰ διάγνωσιν τυχόντος, καὶ μηκέτι παρὰ μηδενὸς ἐγκαλῆται, διαγραφὴ δίκης λέγεται.
