Translation

[Meaning he/she] was training, was preparing, was laboring painfully, was making ready.¹
"By bribing many of the Isaurians he was training their bodies in the [skills needed] for war."²

Ἐσωμάσκει· συνεκρότει, ηὐτρέπιζεν, ὤδινεν, ἡτοίμαζεν. ὁ δὲ πολλοὺς δεκάζων τῶν Ἰσαύρων τὰ κατὰ τὸν πόλεμον ἐσωμάσκει.
