Notes (5)

  1. See also gamma 413.
  2. 1Similarly in the Ambrosian Lexicon (according to Adler) and elsewhere. ↩
  3. 2The source of this paragraph is Harpokration s.v. gwniasmo/s, with some omissions and modifications. ↩
  4. 3In their editions of Harpokration both Dindorf and Keaney have ei) gnh/sios ("if genuine") instead of the ei) e)/sti gnh/sios of the Suda. In Harpokration the quotation from (?)Lysias begins with e)/sti de\ ka/myanti ("there is for one following the bends...") instead of the Suda's ka/myanti. The Suda may have transposed the e)/sti. ↩
  5. 4Lysias fr.158 Sauppe, now 210 Carey OCT. The case was one of wounding by premeditation (and the several other citations of it do not query Lysianic authorship). ↩
  6. 5Aristophanes, Frogs 956 (web address 1); Euripides speaking. However, the introductory words "I showed them..." occur neither in Aristophanes nor in Harpokration, but are a paraphrase of the line of dialogue that Euripides speaks shortly before this one (954: e)/peita toutousi\ lalei=n e)di/daca). ↩
