Κατωφαγᾶς

[A katwfaga=s means the same as] a katafaga=s. In any event Kleonymos¹ is being ridiculed as a gourmand, because he used to eat bending over. But katwfaga=s is a bird so-called, which digs up seeds. And when it has a recessive accent, it is an adjective; but when it has a circumflex on the last syllable, [it is] a proper name. But perhaps [it comes] from the [verb] katafagei=n ["to eat up, to devour"].²
