Notes
- Same or similar entry in other lexica -- see the references at Photius kappa719 Theodoridis -- but one marred by textual corruption. The headword itself, transmitted as
ki/mbika , should probably be eitherkimbikei/a orkimbiki/a . In any event it seems to be connected with, and perhaps an error for,kimbei/a "stinginess" (see LSJ s.v.). If so, the third and fourth glosses here are intelligible enough. (For the third,mikrologi/a , see mu 1048 and generally LSJ s.v.) The wasps and bees, however, are out of place here if (as Tiberius Hemsterhuys suggested)sfhki/a orsfiki/a -- which then generatedmelissi/a orme/lissa -- should actually beskifi/a orsknifi/a (cf. Hesychius kappa2700).
