Notes (1)
- For Kimon see generally kappa 1620, kappa 1621.
The present headword phrase (unglossed) seems to have been generated by Plutarch, Kimon 19.5:ta\ lei/yana au)tou= ... ta\ me/xri nu=n *kimw/neia prosagoreuo/mena .
On the Kimoneia (in Koile, a suburb of Athens just outside the Melite Gate) see A. Blamire, Plutarch: Life of Kimon (London 1989) 89-90, 165, 185. A comic poet (Kratinos fr. 151 Kock = 160 Kassel/Austin) had a ruder name for them: Kimonian ruins (ereipia). - 1Otherwise unattested, and substantively dubious anyway, if we are meant to envisage one in Athens. See rather Plut. loc.cit., who claims that the Cypriots of Kition, where Kimon died, maintained a hero-cult of him. ↩
