Translation

[Meaning he/she/it] cuts short, diminishes.¹
"Seeing that his sons were departing from their accustomed mode of life, and that the soldiers were doing many bad things, he left [sc. Britain], in order to encourage the ones but to curtail the others."²

Κολούει· χρεοκοπεῖ, ἐλαττοῖ. ὁρῶν τοὺς παῖδας ἐκδιαιτωμένους, τοὺς δὲ στρατιώτας πολλὰ κακὰ δρῶντας ἀπῆρε, τοὺς μὲν ἵνα ἐπιρρώσῃ, τοὺς δέ, κολούσηται.

2Quotation not identified by Adler, but Favuzzi [see under delta 654] 225-226 now points to close similarities with Cassius Dio 76 (77).11 (= vol.III pp.365-366 Boissonade) on Septimius Severus. Favuzzi further argues that this material comes direct from Dio, not via epitomators. ↩
