Konnos' vote
Translated by David Whitehead20 Nov 2006Vetting: high4 revisions
Translation
[sc. A proverbial phrase] in reference to worthless people/things. Konnos was a lyre-player -- one of the ones without a voice, some say -- or in some accounts a kithara-player.

Notes
- Aristophanes, Wasps 675, with scholion (the latter giving the variant
*ko/nnou qri=on ). Also in Hesychius and Photius -- but not, despite this glossing, in the paroemiographers.
This Konnos is perhaps to be distinguished from the inebriated piper Konnas (kappa 2027), though orthodoxy thinks not: see e.g. LSJ s.v.*konna=s .
