Among Jews [the Korbanas is] the sacred treasury.1
"By spending the sacred treasury on an aqueduct Pilate provoked a riot. It brought down [water] from [a distance of] 400 stades. And he positioned troops and killed many [sc. Jews]."2

Notes (2)

  1. 1Also written Korbonas. ↩
  2. 2A careless transcription -- omitting the headword itself -- of Josephus, Jewish War 2.175-7 (web address 1). For this episode cf. pi 1595. ↩
