Notes (3)

  1. See generally J.F. Healey in OCD(4) s.v. Nabataeans; Barrington Atlas map 71.
The kingdom of the Nabataean Arabs, though centered on Petra in present-day Jordan, stretched at various times deep into present-day Saudi Arabia and (northwards) into present-day Syria.
  2. 1Quotation (and individual) unidentifiable. ↩
  3. 2This additional material comes from Stephanus of Byzantium s.v., from which the present passage, textually faulty, is supplemented. ↩
  4. 3Present-day Yemen. ↩
