Notes (3)

  1. 1The headword is a contracted form of ne/atos, nei/atos (nu 281); here in the neuter masculine/accusative singular, presumably quoted from somewhere. The gloss u(gro/n printed by Adler is in ms F, she reports, but is lacking in GM. Ms A has grh written as a compendium. Thus the original gloss may be regarded as uncertain. Apollonius the Sophist on Homer, Odyssey 2.338 (Homeric Lexicon 116.15) defines nhto/s (oxytone) as 'piled-up'. ↩
  2. 2Not in mss AF. ↩
  3. 3As if from ne/omai in the first case or ne/w in the second (cf. nu 340). Written above the line in ms M only (M is notable for scholarly comments and emendations). Both verbs seem to be intended as aorist (passive) imperative forms. The reading of the second one was initally printed by Adler as sun ... aton, but in her consolidated addenda and corrigenda she accepted Maas's swreuqh=ton, included in this SOL text. ↩
