Notes (4)

  1. 1Likewise or similarly in other lexica; references at Photius omicron561 Theodoridis. The headword phrase is probably quoted from Thucydides, who has several instances of the idiom (e.g. 6.34.9, 8.82.8). ↩
  2. 2Arrian, Parthica fr. 29 Roos; more fully under tau 947. ↩
  3. 3Quotation (with infinitive, probably in indirect discourse) unidentifiable. (Gaisford attributed it to Aelian.) ↩
  4. 4Quotation unidentifiable; transmitted (like the previous two quotations) via the Excerpta made for Constantine Porphyrogenitus. ↩
