Translation
[Meaning a] paltry or slight evil. For flau=ron and fau=lon are different: a small evil is flau=ron , but a big one [is] fau=lon .1
*flau=ron [means] nonsensical, distasteful, ill-omened,2 grievous. In Aristophanes.
"It is bad for a an old man to stand upright, who fell as a young man." That is, it is impossible for a man who has once fallen in youth to be set upright in old age.3
"Speak auspiciously, and say nothing petty about upright and intelligent men, of whom because of frugality no one ever shaved himself or anointed himself or went to a bath-house to wash himself."4
