Notes (1)

  1. The headword is a feminine noun in the nominative singular; see generally LSJ s.v. Its appearance here has been generated by the instance of it in the genitive plural at Homer, Iliad 24.228 (web address 1); see the scholia on that line, with Richardson, p. 297, and Chantraine, p. 1238. With his city about to be sacked by the Greeks, Priam decides to pull out elegant garments from coveted chests.
  2. 1The glossing noun kibwto/s has the same grammatical form as the headword; see generally LSJ s.v. Identical glossing in Hesychius, Lexica Segueriana 411.24, and the Synagoge; very similar in Orion [Author, Myth], Etymologicum 162.15, Etymologicum Gudianum pi560.9, and Etymologicum Magnum 804.11 (Kallierges); cf. Apollonius, Homeric Lexicon 165.33. Adler also cites Etymologicum Genuinum and Lexicon Ambrosianum 571. ↩
